Quality Control Technician

Job Summary: This position is responsible for performing quality related functions related to Food Safety and Quality programs at a designated BRC Certified facility.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Supports operations departments ensuring that the plant is producing food-safe, high quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Set-up/Take-Down cupping tables for Tea, Instant, and Coffee Products
  • Participate in all daily sensory evaluations of Tea, Instant, and Coffee Products
  • Provide support (analytical and sensory testing, data recording, etc.) for plant trials involving Tea, Instant, and Coffee products.
  • Assists leading efforts to identify and correct any causes of non-conformance in the manufacturing processes.
  • Completes non-conformance report when needed.
  • Calibrates and maintains equipment including weigh scales, moisture analyzers, sieve shakers, colorimeters, pH meters, to perform product testing and audit test results.
  • Cross-train with and fill-in for other departmental QC Technicians as needed.
  • Correctly fill out paperwork required to process audits in timely manner and turn in to proper departments.
  • Assists in performance of internal audits.
  • Investigates consumer complaint report by locating production day/time and creating NCR if needed.
  • Able to follow written instructions to ensure consistent quality monitoring processes.
  • Performs data entry functions for quality related tests.
  • Participates in all food safety and site related training.
  • Communicates any food safety and quality issues to production personnel and management.
  • Supports the Quality Assurance Department in achieving and maintaining BRC certification by assisting in the development, verification and validation of BRC programs.
  • Supports Plant continuous improvement initiatives to improve product safety, product quality, and quality programs.
  • Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training. Maintains safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person. Reports any injury or accident immediately to supervisory and/or any unsafe condition.
  • Supports and complies with GMP’s. Understands and follows emergency action plan.
  • Supports food safety, quality and legality.
  • Supports the lab and provides lab coverage when needed and provides weekend support when needed with necessary notice.
  • Supports lab with data entry in Excel as needed.
  • Supports lab with filing of paperwork.
  • Ability to locate and extract forms from Trace Gains.
  • Ensures the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists the QA Supervisor in maintaining all Food Safety & Quality systems including but not limited to BRC Certification.
